Our Leah kit celebrates and highlights Indigenous Women.
Why just have an Indigenous round when Goalkeepers can represent our Indigenous women every game they play.
The kit “Leah” features the artwork ‘Woman. Celebration. Life’ by Leah Brideson, a Canberra based Contemporary Aboriginal Artist who creates stunning ‘visual yarns’ in the most vibrant and modern way.
This artwork is reflective of the 2018 NAIDOC theme, ‘Because of her, we can’. It is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander past, present and future women and their endeavours, contributions, and achievements. This piece highlights the nurturing, caring, leading, supporting, inspiring and empowering qualities of our women and acknowledges those non-Indigenous women who have and continue to advocate for our people.
From the Indigenous Elders, stories (represented by the white and yellow lines) are passed down the generations. The artwork was chosen because of its powerful meaning, and our playing strip displays the lower third of the painting which represents the modern indigenous woman.
Even Playing Field is proud to be able to use such amazing artwork, and a percentage of every sale goes back to the artist, Leah Brideson.
